RDT’s latest proposal is to further develop the Mart site, embracing its potential to be a central hub and meeting area within the village, by using some of the ground to the south side of the Mart to create a small community orchard.
An area has been identified that is approximately 14m x 50m which is unsuitable for building on, due to the high flood line there. There will be footpaths to a seating area; a disabled accessible area; and it will be rabbit and deer fenced to protect the trees and produce.
Work on the Community Orchard will begin in September. Dunky Mackay has been appointed to carry out the groundwork and the fruit trees etc. will be purchased and planted over the dormant season.
Many thanks to all who have helped us make a start on the clearing of the vegetation.
Funding from Gordonbush Windfarm and Kilbraur Windfarm has now been secured.
