To date RDT has completed the following projects:
Taken a 50 year lease from the Highland Council of the local playing field (where the annual gala is held)
Installed a purpose-built storage facility on the playing field.
Helped to establish Visit Lairg and Rogart, a joint venture tourist group. (This has now folded)
Helped to set up Coffee and Blether.
Purchased the disused Old Mart and surrounding land in the centre of the village.
Refurbished the old Mart building as an indoor/outdoor performance venue and to hold regular markets.
Constructed a Green Room for the provision of refreshments with toilet facilities and landscaped the surrounding area with the implementation of a car park.
Initiated the Round Rogart Path project which is now complete. This has involved the following:
A survey of the entire route
Installation of a new section of path (250m) by the vets.
Significant improvement works including drainage and a replacement stile.
Replacement of an 18m span footbridge over the River Fleet at Dalmore, which was necessary for completion of the route.
Created a new access with gate onto Pittentrail Hill.
Comprehensive signage of the Round Rogart Path.
The compilation and printing of 2000 leaflets of the path for distribution locally.
The Mart is now up and running with events being held regularly through the warmer months.
The Trust has been fully focused recently on completing the Round Rogart Path and getting the Mart Project up and running. With future projects RDT members will be given the opportunity to vote and have their say.
